DO YOU, OR ANYONE YOU KNOW,
HAVE DIFFICULTY USING THE TELEPHONE??
If so, you may be interested to know about the
State program that provides telephone equipment and services, at no charge, to people who have
difficulty using the telephone.
The California Telephone Access Program (CTAP)
lends telephone equipment and services, at
no charge, to those who qualify. To qualify for the CTAP, you must live
in California, have phone service in your home, and must be certified by a
medical doctor, or other authorized agents listed in the CTAP brochure, as
having a permanent or temporary impairment. In other words, it is a need-based program and there are
no income or age requirements.
The needs we address are:
Hearing
Vision
Speech
Mobility
Cognitive
(memory)
One of our largest groups of people fit into the
Hard of Hearing (HOH) category. We now have 17 specialized phones to meet their
needs. The dB increase for these phones is between 18dB and 85dB. It is highly
beneficial to actually see these phones to understand the unique differences
between them.
Contact Roberta Smith at (951) 315-1745 or (951) 654-8240 for a free CTAP
presentation for your organization and she will provide information about this
program that may benefit your group, you, your friends and/or your family
members!
